If you’re traveling to Vietnam or other areas of SouthEast Asia via Bangkok, be aware that a popular regional airline will be changing it’s service hub in Bangkok. If you fly into Bangkok from another part of the world and are planning on traveling on to another part of Thailand or SouthEast Asia on AirAsia, you need to plan carefully. AirAsia will move operations to Don Muang Airport in Bangkok. Don Muang Airport is about 38 kilometers from Suvarnabhumi International Airport. This could add an hour to your travel time, maybe more depending on traffic and weather.
“AirAsia has confirmed that it will transfer all its operations from the newer Suvarnabhumi International Airport to Bangkok’s old International Airport, Don Muang, by 1 October 2012.”
