Ba Na is located on Chua Mountain in the Truong Son Mountains, around 1,487m above the sea, in Hoa Vang District, 30km from the center of Danang City.
Ba Na is popular as a one day tour or even a overnight stay for travelers from nearby Hue, Danang and Hoi An.
The French colonists began to develop Ba Na in the early 20th Century. It soon become a popular destination for colonists and foreign visitors. By 1919 a “Hill Station” had been established by the French.
Recently, the resort has been rebuilt with hotels and guesthouses. Flower gardens are popular settings for hotels and guesthouses.
Modern cable cars help the visitors get a great view of the surrounding area all the way to the South China Sea on a clear day.
Ba Na resort is part of the Ba Na-Nui Chua nature reserve, with a total area of 8,838 hectres. The nature reserve has two types of natural vegetation: lowland evergreen forest and lower mountain evergreen forest. Up to 543 species of plant life have been recorded at the nature reserve, 61 mammal species, 178 bird species and 17 reptile species, 6 amphibian species, 33 fish species and 126 butterfly species.
